NWA New Beginnings is set to launch in 17 Days!!!

17 Days and counting until Greg Price's NWA New Beginnings launches its inaugural event and what a jam packed event it will be.  First and foremost our Worlds Heavyweight Champion is scheduled to defend his title against a yet to be named opponent.  The Worlds Champion has defended the title all over the American Southwest, but this will mark the first time Demon will wrestle a sanctioned NWA World Championship match on the East Coast.  And there will be another first meeting. 

The much anticipated match up between "The Universal Solider" Phil Shatter defending his National Heavyweight Championship against former NWA World Champion "Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce.  Shatter has met many world class competitor in his year long reign, including Larry Zbyszko, Mikal Judas, Tristan Gallo, Ace Rockwell, Orion Bishop, Caprice Coleman, and Truitt Fields.  Shatter has defended that belt in Hollywood CA, McKeepsport PA, Cornelia GA, and Charlotte NC.  

But Shatter has never faced a competitor in the likes of Adam Pearce.  Pearce is a 2 time World Champion. "Scrap Iron" is still collecting championships.  Pearce recently defeated Dru Onyx to win the NWA British Commonwealth Championship.  

Both of these men plan on using this National Championship match to springboard them to the next level.  To put them into a World Championship Match, with Blue Demon Jr.  Only one of these men will walk away as the National Heavyweight Champion.  Only one of these men will walk away with the attention of Blue Demon Jr.  February 14th, Shatter vs. Pearce, the entire NWA will be watching this match.  The entire landscape is about to change as we all await to see the New Beginnings of the NWA..

“Wrestlers 4 Haiti” Raise Over $6K for Relief Effort

Pro wrestlers (Tampa, FL) are mainly known for the weight they throw around in the ring. Turns out they have quite a bit that they put to use outside of it as well.
Wrestlers 4 Haiti, a group hastily put together with great cooperation and organization by pro wrestler Kia Stevens, a.k.a. “Awesome Kong,” and about two dozen of her compatriots, has already raised over $6,000 for the relief efforts in that earthquake-ravaged country—and counting.
The primary fundraiser was an event at a club in Lancaster, PA on January 15, where Stevens and friends entertained, mingled with fans and concerned citizens, and took pledges throughout the evening. Those unable to attend were encouraged to contribute via PayPal.
“My good friend, DJ Seth Gold, is from Harrisburg and he and I have put on parties together before,” Stevens said. “I landed there for a wrestling event on Thursday and he texted me, wanting to know if I wanted to put on a benefit for Haiti.”
The idea was certainly a good one, but Stevens realized time was of the essence.
“I said it was a fantastic idea, but they need help NOW,” she said, recalling the moment. “So I suggested that we put together something the next day, and whatever we raise, we raise.”
Because of the short notice, Stevens had modest hopes.
“I figured if we even just raised $500, that would help. It would buy some water or something.”
But enter fellow wrestler Mick Foley, who told the newly-named “Wrestlers 4 Haiti” that he would match whatever funds were raised, up to $2,500.
“That gave us a goal,” Stevens said.
After a day-and-a-half of whirlwind promotional efforts, including quickly arranged appearances on radio shows, Wrestlers 4 Haiti—about 24 pro wrestlers all told—mobilized through social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook and got the word out. A PayPal address was set up for those who wanted to contribute online.
And the cash is still coming in.
“We’re still getting pledges via PayPal,” Stevens said. “And we’ll continue soliciting donations until the situation in Haiti stabilizes,” she added.
The funds are being turned over to the American Red Cross.
Wrestlers 4 Haiti isn’t the only cause that Stevens is involved with; she’s also the founder of Fountains for Youth, a nonprofit that aims to help teens with at-risk situations utilizing peer influence.

North Shore Pro Wrestling Hosts the NWA British Commonwealth Championship Match

North Shore Pro Wrestling, held an event this past January 23rd that was headlined by Mr. Wrestling Kevin Steen defeated Sunny War Cloud.  But the NSPW also played host to the NWA British Commonwealth Championship match between 'God's Favorite Weapon' Dru Onyx and "Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce.  By watching the videos included in this post, you'll find out why Onyx was adamant about meeting Adam Pearce in the ring.  It all comes down to Pearce's first title run as World Champion and Onyx was the North American Champion.  Onyx never was offered a World Title's match and as Number One Contender felt jaded that the World Champion, never traveled to Quebec to defend against Onyx.  Since then, Onyx went on to regain his British Commonwealth Championship while Pearce had a 2nd World Title reign and eventually lost to Blue Demon Jr.  Watch the videos and tell me if you want to see this match?

New Number 1 contender to the NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Championship

In a weekend where NWA National Champion Phil Shatter has his 12th successful defense against Caprice Coleman and Mike Posey successfully defended his NWA Tennessee Jr. championhip against Corey Hollis, The NWA in Charlotte had another defying moment in their first offering, crowning a new Number One Contender to Mike Quackenbush's World Jr. Heavyweight Championship.

Quackenbush first won the title in controversial fashion when he took liberties with the mask of New Japan wrestler, Tiger Mask IV.  Quack defeated the former champion, who prior to this event had faced the likes of Jason Dukes, Low-Ki, and Black Tiger Mask IV.  Since winning the crown, Lightning Mike has had defenses in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Nevada, Georgia, and Italy.  Mike Quackenbush has held the title for nearly 3 years.  He has a schedule title defense against former champion Tony Kozina for NWA Michigan on Feb. 20th.

This won't be Sal's first shot at Mike Quackenbush.  Back in October, Rinauro had a shot at the title in the Quackenbush-friendly Chikara Pro.  Championships are not an unfamiliar concept to Rinauro.  With tag team championships in ROH, NWA Anarchy, Deep South Wrestling and Full Impact Pro.  Rinauro has also held a handful of singles championships including a Jr. Heavyweight Championships in NWA Wildside.  In a NWA ring, could Rinauro defeat the man who's held the belt for nearly three years?  What do you think?  Leave a comment below. 

NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Champion Speaks

The good people at Westside Pro Wrestling are bringing the goods, our affiliate recently conducted an interview with the NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Champion.  And with the consent of our friends at Westside Pro, here are a few excerpts from the interview.

"Quack has been one of the premier wrestlers on the circuit for over ten years now as well as publishing his own books. He is one of the forefathers to a style that can only be described as Lucha / Japanese and X Division all combined into one. I am proud to put together this interview with one of my good friends and one of the best cruisers in the American Independent scene as well as the world - “Lightning” Mike Quackenbush..."

WPW: Who is on the list of people you'd like to lock up with one day?

Quack: Christopher Daniels is always on that list. I would love to have a singles match with him. I think it would be a lot of fun to wrestle Ultimo Guerrero, or Averno from CMLL as well.

WPW: You've held the NWA Junior Heavyweight Championship for over two years, who in the NWA would you like to defend it against?

Quack: Anyone. Bring 'em on. I'd love to be out there defending that title every month, if they could line up the challengers for me.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- NWA National Champion Phill Shatter responds to Adam Pearce three weeks before their championship match February 14th in Charlotte, North Carolina!

Tommy Cairo no longer with Force One Pro Wrestling

It was just a little over 4 years ago that I sat down with Phil Varlese and Dan Brown to discuss putting together a school and wrestling promotion in South Jersey. We had run the successful Outlaws of Wrestling at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City for several years, but I felt a need to spend more time with my family in 2001, and eventually withdrew from the business.

We formed a new organization called Force One Pro Wrestling, and set out to work on making future stars in this business. To that end, we were successful, as some of the best talent has come from our school over these past few years.

In addition, we ran some good shows in the South Jersey area, drawing crowds in areas that had never seen an indy show, and turning them into Force One fans.

As with any business during these economic times, we went through some rough financial times in 2009, as ticket sales not only for Force One, but for indy shows in general, declined.

With some dissention in the ranks, Phil Varlese left Force One in April of 2009. That left me with the additional responsibilities of Phil's, as well as what I had been doing running the day to day opertations. Ask any promoter, it's a lot to handle. I turned over the reins at Force One to one of our trainers.

While I was still "owner" of F1, I no longer had a financial stake in the company. I continued to guide Force One, it's workers, trainers, and students, until September of 2009.

Many changes have taken place in the company over the past few months. There's a new website with a variation on our name. New workers, bookers, story writers, and others that were not there when I was running F1. They recently put up something on the old Force One website that said "Out with the old, in with the new". The "NEW" Force 1 Pro looks nothing like what was envisioned when we put together the original idea.

I feel somewhat disrespected by the new management. The guys who worked for Force One in the past poured their heart and souls into our organization. I'll always be grateful for that. Unfortunately, most of those workers are no longer part of that organization. My conscience will not allow me to stand by as "owner", and allow my name to be associated with a product that does not represent me, or what I want to contribute to this business.

That said, this release is to advise that I am NO LONGER affiliated with the new organization known as Force 1 Pro. While the original Force One Pro Wrestling was affiliated with the National Wrestling Alliance (thanks to the work of our good friend Fred Richards), I can not guarantee that the NWA will continue to support this product.

In closing, I want to thank the fans that supported the original Force One Pro Wreslting over the years. Additonally, every worker, staff member, trainer, and student of the original F1, from my heart, thank you!

NWA East Championship Committee Dismissed by Jim Miller

NWA EAST CHAMPIONSHIP COMMITTEE DISMISSED BY JIM MILLER

In a shocking development, the NWA-East Championship Committee(currently Vince Kaplack and Shawn Patrick) has been relieved of their duties by owner Jim Miller effective immediately.

Miller has stated that while he has the up most respect for both Vince Kaplack and Shawn Patrick, he feels that both have become far too separated from having their finger on the pulse of the promotion in the last few months.

In the past several months, the Championship Committee has appointed Joe Dombrowski as the hands-on Spokesperson but that went sour as Dombrowski gradually allowed the position of power go to his head clouding any impartial judgments on his part. Furthermore, Dombrowski's obsession with Kid Cupid and The Midnight Lover proved to be a major distraction as well. Eventually, Dombrowski would lose the Spokesperson's job to The Midnight Lover(who in turn turned it over to the reinstated Kid Cupid).

Miller cited the facts that The Championship Committee did nothing to halt Dombrowski's abuse of power which then led to a respected position becoming a mockery when Kid Cupid took over. Miller also made mention of their inability to control the situation with Crusher Hansen as Hansen's manager BC Steele has submitted contract after contract to sneak Hansen back into the building despite the fact that Hansen lost a 'Loser Leaves NWA-East' match against Jon Burton at the 15th Anniversary Show.

The final straw appears to be the parting of ways with Chris LeRusso, Bobby Beverly, and Gregory Iron as Miller indicated that allowing three young talents like these to walk away was a major mistake that should not have ever happened.

Miller, however, did say that the door would be open for both Patrick and Kaplack to return to the Committee in the future if either man wishes to resume full hands-on duties. In the meantime, no replacements have been named to the Committee, which leads to the question of who will be enforcing the rules and signing the matches?? Miller has indicated that the "inmates will not run the asylum" as he will be the man watching over things until a new Committee can be determined.

One wrestler, who wishes to remain anonymous, had this to say when asked by the website about the shocking announcement: "How can Jim Miller think he is going to control things and watch over the wrestlers when he doesn't even know who half of them are anymore?"

Another wrestler proclaimed that this was a blessing in disguise because that means no more Dombrowski screwing things up or Cupid playing children's games.

Former NWA-East wrestler Crusher Hansen made it a point to contact us and when asked his opinion on this matter stated he will have to check things out for himself at the next live event. When reminded that he is still not a part of the active roster, Hansen simply asked 'Who's gonna stop me from showing up? Jim Miller? Please. The man is too busy selling his hotdogs to run anything.....

Things could get a bit chaotic on January 30th it appears....

EPW suspended Bobby Marshall, how long before M1W follows?

Before the new M1W Champion ran rickshaw over the Mach 1 Pro Wrestling roster, Bobby Marshall was raising hell against Richter and the Darkest Hour in Explosive Pro Wrestling.  Marshall's actions after this match led to his suspension in the NWA in Perth, Western Australia.  How long before the ticking time bomb goes off in Mach 1?  How long before Marshall wraps a chair around the head of an official of M1W?  The NWA had previous placed sanctions against Marshall back in 2006.  How long before Jon Ian and the rest of M1W regret their decision to bring in this lose cannon.

Marshall continues his war against the world of wrestling when he takes on Jaysin Stryfe, this Friday at 8:05PM at the American Sports Center.  Stryfe comes back to M1W from Counsil Bluffs, Iowa for a shot at the M1W Championship. Stryfe’s accomplishments include: Former NWA Midwest X Division Champion, 2009 Chikara Young Lion Cup entrant, and Retired AWA RUSH Tag Team Champion. Stryfe now wants to add M1W Champion to his resume.  M1W will also move towards crowning a new tag team champions.

The Main Event Wrestling TV Taping scheduled for this evening in Nashville, TN has been postponed until Jan 14 due to various talent related travel issues created by snow & ice in the surrounding areas.

NWA Main Event promoter Mike Poster had planed to run a show tonight anyway due to the large # of tickets fans had picked up over the last few weeks from Main Event advertisers, however decided against it.

The Truth Behind The Sheik’s reign of Terror…by Tim Sult

He considers himself to be the most sadistic man in Professional Wrestling, and we would be hard pressed not to agree. He is the current NWA FLORIDA and NWA MIDWEST Heavyweight Champion, a champion who terrorizes wrestling with rule breaking ferocity. He is personally responsible for putting Tommy Taylor out of wrestling by severely burning his face and damaging his eye sight. He recently broke Chris Jones’ neck and put him out of wrestling forever. He has left a bloody trail of broken and beat down bodies all over the world. He is feared, he is hated, he is the most notorious madman in wrestling today. He is THE SHEIK.

NWA Southwest 12th Anniversary Update

NWA SOUTHWEST 12th ANNIVERSARY SHOW

NWA Southwest (NWA-SW) is putting together a huge card in celebration of its 12th Anniversary on February 26, at the 2800-seat Central Pavilion on the RMB Fairgrounds in Robstown, Texas. NWA-SW had its first show on February 27, 1998 in Dallas.

On this card will be a World Title match of Battle of the Masked Men with champion Blue Demon, Jr. facing recent WWE developmental Sicodelico, Jr. It will be Sicodelico's second shot at NWA glory since facing Adam Pearce back in 2007.

Kevin Northcutt - former TNA star, 2-time World Tag Team champion, and 9-time Texas champ - will defend versus challenger and long time Texas ring vet Ben Galvan.

Also, the card will feature a [MINI] match and a Tornado match. Live band music will precede bell-time.
