“Pro Wrestling Showcase” Focuses Energy on Action for All Ages
Missouri Wrestling Revival (MWR), in cooperation with High Voltage Wrestling Midwest and NWA Dynamo Pro Wrestling, gives the motto “Giving Back to Midwest Pro Wrestling” added depth with a very special showcase show entitled “Pro Wresting Showcase” on November 14, 2009 in Granite City, IL at the River's Edge Reception Center.
In the main event of the evening, “The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt puts his money where his mouth is, defending the Wrestling Revival Cup for only the second time since he was awarded it by MWR in 2008. Wyatt finds his open challenge met by “The Future” Donovan Ruddick and Arya Daivari. Ruddick, standing 6'9” and weighing in at around 280 pounds, is coming hot off the heels of a high profile victory over another man issuing an open challenge. Ruddick could find himself the spoiler once again, but Daivari will bring his ruthless Middle Eastern athleticism and attitude to the main event.
In the Midwest, classic tag teams reminiscent of the golden age of pro wrestling are alive and well. In Granite City, four of these teams will converge in two matches that are sure to please young and old alike. One match features quite possibly the most celebrated and traveled tag team of the four, the Northstar Express (Darin Corbin & Ryan Cruz), going head to head with the team St. Louis fans might not be inclined to claim as their own due to their antics in the ring, B.A.B.E.WATCH (Brandon Aarons & Brandon Espinosa).
The second tag team contest will feature Louisiana's finest, the Bayou Outlaws (Aaron Masterson & Mad Dog McDowell) trying to steal momentum from the Kansas City Connection's Mark Sterling and Mike Sydal. Sydal, the younger brother of World Wrestling Entertainment's Evan Bourne, recently stunned Granite City wrestling fans by saying he no longer considered St. Louis his home. Under Mark Sterling and Jeremy Wyatt's watch, Sydal is proving to be cunning and calculated, but the Bayou Outlaws look to test this fairly new team with a tried and true tag team strategy developed from match after match of experience.
The lovely Santana G will be in attendance on the eve of her biggest test to date against current NWA Women's Champion MsChif. Also scheduled to appear are “Canadian Sex Icon” Ryan Slade, “Unbreakable” Zach Thompson, “6% Body Fat” Rob James, Eric Allen and “Rockstar” Jimmy Rockwell.
“Pro Wrestling Showcase” is determined to give the fans more of what they want and less of what they do not.
Doors open at 6:45PM with an opening bell time of 7:30PM. Tickets are $12, with children 7 years old and younger getting in for free.
The River's Edge Reception Center (formerly the Army Depot) is located at 1635 W. 1st Street, Granite City, IL, 62040. For more information, call (417) 650-8086.
Missouri Wrestling Revival, High Voltage Wrestling Midwest, and NWA Dynamo Pro are committed to family friendly pro wrestling action at affordable prices.
Fresh off the presser, a huge match up announced for NWA Michigan, of epic elemental proportion. On Februrary 20th, 2010, NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Champion, "Lightning" Mike Quackenbush will take on the former NWA Jr. Heavyweight Champion, the "Tornado" Tony Kozina. The mach is scheduled to take place in Hamtramck, Michigan.
We regret to announce that due to personal reasons, our October 31st and November 14th shows have been canceled. NWA Michigan will now be making it's official debut in December, rather than on Halloween as originally planned. We apologize to anyone inconvenienced by the cancellations.
Mach One Wrestling rolls into our third week of “Friday Fight Night” with the announcement of our October 30th Halloween Celebration card which takes place at the American Sports Center at 1500 S. Anaheim Blvd., Anaheim, CA 92805 and have a weekly bell time of 8:00PM. Tickets are $6 or $3 with a student ID and for children 12 and under.
Friday, October 30th, 2009 -- Card Announcement
-- M1W’s Halloween Celebration! All fans in attendance wearing Halloween costumes will receive a free gift bag of candy and be able to enter a costume contest in which the winner receives a free pass to the following “Friday Fight Night” show.
Main Event - Tag Team Grudge Match
“Pretty” Peter Avalon & “Magnum” Joey Ryan vs. Johnny Goodtime & M1W Champion “Red Tornado” James Morgan
-- The NWA Board of Directors along with the M1W brass have decided to reschedule the first “Friday Fight Night” main event as an act of faith to the loyal fans who came to see it when it was originally scheduled. The issues have not been settled between these four men and in fact, things may have even become more volatile with James Morgan getting a momentary bit of revenge on October 23rd after all the sneak attacks he has suffered at the hands of Joey Ryan. Add that to the unfinished business between Peter Avalon and Johnny Goodtime stemming from the Long Beach Comic Con and we are in for one explosive main event.
Return Match
Andrew Hellman vs. Shawn Rickers
-- After not being able to finish off Shawn Rickers on October 23rd, Andrew Hellman took a walk and left the match opting to be counted out rather than face the possibility of a pin fall loss due to a lack of preparedness. The NWA Board of Directors and the M1W brass were quick to sign the rematch between these two to hopefully get a decisive outcome. On October 30th, we will see if Rickers has Hellman’s number or if Hellman will make the most of his extra week to prepare.
Human Tornado vs. Ric Ellis
-- Ric Ellis had an impressive victory in his M1W debut. So impressive in fact that The NWA Board of Directors and the M1W brass want to test him already and have signed a match against fan favorite and world traveler Human Tornado! Ellis has seemingly been pushed into the deep end and it’s up to him to sink or swim.
Tag Team Match
The Ballard Brothers (Shannon & Shane) vs. David Flex & Gregory Sharpe
-- The events of last week were not kind to David Flex and Gregory Sharpe. They were matched up in a handicap match against Terex but that wasn’t the worst of their night. The worst came when Flex walked out on his partner leaving Sharpe to take the brunt of Terex’s assault. Apparently Flex & Sharpe worked out their differences as they requested to once again be given a shot at teaming up. However, their task this week doesn’t get any easier as they face off against long time SoCal veterans; The Ballard Brothers!
Todd Chandler vs. Tommy Wilson
-- Both men competed at the debut “Friday Fight Night” card. Tommy Wilson to a win and Todd Chandler to a loss. Both men have a lot to gain from this encounter. Wilson wants to prove he is a viable contender for M1W gold and Chandler doesn’t want to see his stock plummet down the ladder any further.
Kyle Webb vs. Johnny Yuma
-- Kyle Webb made his debut as the student of Joey Ryan but was soon abandoned by his teacher and left to feel the wrath of a scorned James Morgan. This week Webb looks to start his own path but must contend with Johnny Yuma who himself suffered a loss at the debut “Friday Fight Night” event and looks to add a W to his Win-Loss record.

This weekend will go down as a bittersweet for the Sheik. Originally slated to challenge for the Worlds Heavyweight Championship on October 24th in Chicago Illinois, The Sheik was denied his chance when some changes were made in NWA Midwest Promoters. A last minute call kept the Sheik from canceling his transportation to Illinois. In fact, the Sheik was invited to fill in the vacancy of challenger to the NWA Midwest Heavyweight Championship bout on October 23rd, in Ashton, IL. for Rebellious Wrestling Federation. Silas Young, the two time champion won the championship by defeating the Roughneck Jay Ryan on August 15th, 2008. The one year plus, title reign came to an end on the 23rd. When The Sheik claimed another prize on his path to the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. SoCal Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Championship Match:
Since I took on the continuation of the legacy my dad forged, I've known that a lot of people say wrestling isn't a sport, and I respect everyone's opinions -- those of the true expert and those of they who think they know.
It's obvious that the less knowledgeable always will say, when the wrestling is real and there is a maneuver and maneuver-breaker on the canvas, that that is not real wrestling. They want to see high-flying moves. They want to see blood. But that's not the essence of wrestling.
They think the sport is aerial. That's a joke. Well, I consider wrestling to be like a circus, stunts, theater and a sport.
It's a circus because it originates from the Roman circus. It's theater because it involves masked characters. The Greeks did it that way, and to this day, you still see a happy mask and a sad one. Even more, it represents the good and the bad, black and white, cold and hot. It represents the daily fight of the good versus the bad, and it's a sport in which you have to cultivate yourself physically and mentally in order to sustain the physical wear and tear in a match. It isn't just stepping into the ring and jumping around. You have to learn how to wrestle in different styles: freestyle, Greco-Roman, submission and professionally.

This upcoming weekend, CHIKARA will present their third and fourth final shows of the season, “An Optimistic View of a Pessimistic World” and “Cibernetico Increible”. One more match is set to be announced for “Cibernetico Increible” in Philadelphia, but other than that, both shows’ cards have been pretty much finalized. As far as I am concerned, both events look like they are definitely going to be something special and will most likely be worthy of DVD purchases.
In a backstage promo on the "Hiding in Plain Sight” DVD, Sal Rinauro of all people made an appearance and laid out a challenge to “Lightning” Mike Quackenbush for his NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship. National Wrestling Alliance heard Rinauro’s words and have made the match official for “An Optimistic View of a Pessimistic View” in Easton. Quack has hung onto the NWA belt for nearly three years now, but has not made a title defense since December of 2008. Will Rinauro be able to take advantage of Quackenbush’s recent back injury and capture the prestigious NWA belt or will “LMQ” manage to rack up his tenth defense?

If you ever wanted to old a true piece of professional wrestling history, you may be in luck as it looks like the true ultimate prize is going to be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
The National Wrestling Alliance
World championship belt, which had been in Ric Flair's possession since Jim Crockett Promotions introduced the "big gold belt" in the mid-1980s, will be auctioned off by Highspots via Ebay this Monday. This is the belt that was originally worn by Jack Brisco, Dusty Rhodes and Harley Race, among others, which was chronicled in the excellent "Ten Pounds of Gold" book that was released this past summer.
The decision to auction off the belt is apparently the latest maneuver in an ongoing issue between Highspots and Flair over money owed going back many months. The word that has been making the rounds, as previously noted ont he site, is that Highspots loaned Flair a sum that has yet to be paid back. Sources indicate that Flair's side claimed the debt was paid off via appearances Flair made for Highspots.
Sources indicate another part of the ongoing issues may be over Highspots' decision to release DVDs featuring Flair from last August's NWA Legends convention (a Flair/Harley Race Q&A Session and the 2009 Hall of Heroes induction ceremony where Flair inducted Blackjack Mulligan) as Flair's side has apparently claimed Highspots didn't have the rights to release the DVDs. Highspots previously worked with Flair on several shoot interview DVD releases and booked him for a number of appearances on independent events in the last year.
The auction for the belt (unless other forces intervene) will begin on Monday. For more information, email Highspots@aol.com.
Ric Flair. This title holds a lot of history between its leather and gold. And the Dome Globe has travel to more places in the world than most of us ever will. The story of the championship was recently told by Dick Bourne and Dave Millican. Their book is available and you can get your copy here!
NWA MIDWEST PRESENTS & PRO WRESTLING FUSION
Ryan Taylor became the 4th man to win the Inland Title Series Battle Royal, earning the #1 Contendership to the EWF Heavyweight Championship and an immediate title shot at the next Covina show, where he will face the champion, Brandon Gatson! Taylor came back from imminent defeat when SoCal Crazy threw him over the top rope. Taylor's feet dangled just inches above the floor but managed to return to the ring and eliminate SoCal Crazy for the win!
The world of professional wrestling is considered a cut-throat business filled with sleaze. When wrestling does get publicity, it is typically for all the wrong reasons. All to often we hear of drug overdoes, criminal activities, and death. The NWA is known for its charitable contributions. ECCW helped out with the 24 Hour Wrestling show to fill the empty food banks. NWA Mid-Atlantic has been giving back to the families of Fire Fighters and Police men and women. In light of the departure Jason James, NWA Main Event's weekly internet wrestling program will be on hiatus for several weeks, while promoter Mike Porter retools his TV production and booking. The last episode produced was the September 19 edition.
In a city that not long ago had the unique distinction of having three locally produced independent wrestling television shows, Nashville is down to one, Showtime All-Star Wrestling, at least for the time being.
Until recently, USWO/ATL had been running weekly television tapings at the Stadium Inn, but conflicts between Television Producer Timmy Thompson and ATL's Bill DeShields brought that project to a halt after only six episodes.
Porter said he hopes to have the NWA Main Event internet back up and running by no later October 24. Television tapings will proceed as scheduled at 413 Veritas Street on October 1 and October 10.
(Media-Newswire.com) - ( Chicago, IL ) – Affected most is The Sheik, the pro wrestler from Iran who’s been waiting 12 years for his title shot. He was to go up against current champion Blue Demon Jr. of Mexico on October 24 at Cicero Stadium in Chicago.
But the match was inexplicably canceled with nary an explanation, which hasn’t set well with The Sheik, who was eager to battle for the National Wrestling Alliance ( NWA ) championship—an opportunity he’s waited a long time for.
“The NWA didn’t back out of this match. The Sheik certainly didn’t back out of this match. The Mexican promoters backed out of this match!,” an angry Sheik told reporters recently.
“The Mexican people pride themselves on having one of their countrymen holding the NWA World Heavyweight Title,” The Sheik continued. “And they parade him around as if he’s an Aztec warrior. But what kind of warrior partakes in the glory without the risks?”
Further irking The Sheik is the public image Blue Demon Jr. is propagating for himself.
“I’ve seen him in photos with American stars like The Jonas Brothers. I’ve seen him on television programs rubbing elbows with the rich and famous, while I train in a dungeon,” The Sheik added. “Blue Demon Jr. is a paper champion, and a coward.”
Robert K. Trobich, Executive Director of the NWA, wasn’t available for comment. But the annual NWA meeting will be held soon, and it’s hoped that from that will be gleaned an explanation for the sudden cancellation of the title bout.
The Sheik says he will continue to train and stay ready, should the match be rescheduled as quickly as it was canceled.
The NWA championship dates back to 1905, when George Hackenschmidt was the title holder. This makes the NWA title the longest-running and therefore one of the most prestigious in pro wrestling history.
For interview opportunities directly with The Sheik, contact Shannon Rose at ( 813 ) 960-8412, ( 813 ) 389-0801, or info@mediaproductions.tv.
NWA Force One, is presenting a Night of Fights for their All Hallow's Eve event on October 17th. The night of action will feature Patch defending his Force One Heavyweight Championship. Already announced for the event are Judas Young, Sabian, Breaker Morant, Kevin Cunningham, Big Bear Borselli, RVI, Lucions Laron, Anthouny Graves and more. With Former Force One Heavyweight Champion Danny Doring now reinstated, Patch's night just got a lot more spooky!
