NWA Dynamo co-promotes Pro Wrestling Showcase, Nov. 14th"

Credit: Josh Ray and the Missouri Wrestling Revival

“Pro Wrestling Showcase” Focuses Energy on Action for All Ages

Missouri Wrestling Revival (MWR), in cooperation with High Voltage Wrestling Midwest and NWA Dynamo Pro Wrestling, gives the motto “Giving Back to Midwest Pro Wrestling” added depth with a very special showcase show entitled “Pro Wresting Showcase” on November 14, 2009 in Granite City, IL at the River's Edge Reception Center.

In the main event of the evening, “The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt puts his money where his mouth is, defending the Wrestling Revival Cup for only the second time since he was awarded it by MWR in 2008. Wyatt finds his open challenge met by “The Future” Donovan Ruddick and Arya Daivari. Ruddick, standing 6'9” and weighing in at around 280 pounds, is coming hot off the heels of a high profile victory over another man issuing an open challenge. Ruddick could find himself the spoiler once again, but Daivari will bring his ruthless Middle Eastern athleticism and attitude to the main event.

In the Midwest, classic tag teams reminiscent of the golden age of pro wrestling are alive and well. In Granite City, four of these teams will converge in two matches that are sure to please young and old alike. One match features quite possibly the most celebrated and traveled tag team of the four, the Northstar Express (Darin Corbin & Ryan Cruz), going head to head with the team St. Louis fans might not be inclined to claim as their own due to their antics in the ring, B.A.B.E.WATCH (Brandon Aarons & Brandon Espinosa).

The second tag team contest will feature Louisiana's finest, the Bayou Outlaws (Aaron Masterson & Mad Dog McDowell) trying to steal momentum from the Kansas City Connection's Mark Sterling and Mike Sydal. Sydal, the younger brother of World Wrestling Entertainment's Evan Bourne, recently stunned Granite City wrestling fans by saying he no longer considered St. Louis his home. Under Mark Sterling and Jeremy Wyatt's watch, Sydal is proving to be cunning and calculated, but the Bayou Outlaws look to test this fairly new team with a tried and true tag team strategy developed from match after match of experience.

The lovely Santana G will be in attendance on the eve of her biggest test to date against current NWA Women's Champion MsChif. Also scheduled to appear are “Canadian Sex Icon” Ryan Slade, “Unbreakable” Zach Thompson, “6% Body Fat” Rob James, Eric Allen and “Rockstar” Jimmy Rockwell.

“Pro Wrestling Showcase” is determined to give the fans more of what they want and less of what they do not.

Doors open at 6:45PM with an opening bell time of 7:30PM. Tickets are $12, with children 7 years old and younger getting in for free.

The River's Edge Reception Center (formerly the Army Depot) is located at 1635 W. 1st Street, Granite City, IL, 62040. For more information, call (417) 650-8086.

Missouri Wrestling Revival, High Voltage Wrestling Midwest, and NWA Dynamo Pro are committed to family friendly pro wrestling action at affordable prices.

I believe this will be a regular event for the folks in Lebanon.

NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Title defended in Michigan

Fresh off the presser, a huge match up announced for NWA Michigan, of epic elemental proportion. On Februrary 20th, 2010, NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Champion, "Lightning" Mike Quackenbush will take on the former NWA Jr. Heavyweight Champion, the "Tornado" Tony Kozina. The mach is scheduled to take place in Hamtramck, Michigan.

Kozina, a veritable challenger to every title on the Indys has wrestled on just about every corner of North America. The Tornado is one of the most fundamentally sound wrestlers not only in this country, but in the World. However, his opponent is no slouch either. "Lightning" Mike Quackenbush defeated Tiger Mask IV to win the prestigious championship. Quackenbush has defended his championship against stars from New Japan, IWA Puerto Rico, AAA, and the NWA, along with International defenses in Italy. This match has all the makings to not only capture the Match of the Month honors, but perhaps, Match of the Year.

[NWA Top Rope] Promoter Mike Sircy moves mat action to new venue

By KEN BECK
Special to The Wilson Post

If Mike Sircy’s grandmother hadn’t flipped over professional wrestling three decades ago, the wild and wooly sport just might not be slapping the mat in Lebanon today.

“My grandmother (Ruth Mammie Allen) started taking me when I was around 2-½ years old,” said Sircy, the local promoter of NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) Top Rope. “She was missing a leg but would get us to the matches somehow to the old Hippodrome in Nashville. She was always right by ringside and would beat the heck of the ring posts with her crutches.”

So he knows firsthand how infectious the sport can be.

“The fans love seeing someone get beat up on. They can’t wait for that bad guy to get laid out,” he said. “It’s very entertaining and also an adrenalin rush for them. Some of the fans would love to be inside that ring with an opponent. This is their way to participate in it; being five or six feet from the ring and seeing people pulverize one another at times.”

The 1977 Lebanon High School graduate has organized the pro wrestling events at the Wilson County Fairgrounds since 2003. The matches were being held the last Saturday night of each month, but changes are coming to the local ring this week.

Feeling like he’s won the lottery, Sircy is exhilarated to be taking his production to a new venue on East High Street in the building that formerly housed Krooners and making it a weekly event, beginning Saturday night. The site should seat about 225 fans.

“I looked over the figures for the last 3-½ years for Lebanon, talked to wrestlers and fans, and I listened to the fans, and they kept saying, ‘I want it more often.’ Luckily, this building finally opened up to where I can lease it,” Sircy said.

Not only is wrestling going to be a Saturday night mainstay, but Sircy says it should also be coming to Lebanon cable TV in early 2010 as he is in discussion with a couple of channels.

The final wrestling event at the fairgrounds three Saturdays ago featured Jason James, Petey St. Croix, Vic the Bruiser, Slacker J, Chick Cannon, Kliff Hanger, Rudy Switchblade, Johnny Punch, the Boogie Woogie Boy and Miss Boogie, Lawrence the Well Dressed Man, J.D. Fluffy, C.D. Thriller, The Ice Man Chris Echols and Rocksan.

While not exactly household names, the wrestlers enjoyed a love-hate relationship with local fans. This is obviously a vicarious sport as wrestling enthusiasts holler and ring cowbells while cheering the good guys and mocking the bad guys.

The audience runs all ages from babies and school kids to middle-aged and senior citizens. Hailing from Lebanon, Hartsville, Cookeville, Carthage and Smithville, they sit in metal chairs, chewing hot dogs, burgers, nachos and cheese, popcorn and candy bars and sipping soft drinks.

All eyes stay glued on the 18-foot-by-18-foot-square ring with its white canvas floor, red ropes and black corner posts as this is where the action flies fast and furious.

Lebanon’s Mary Barnes, 79, has been attending the matches since Sircy started them six years back. “I like the wrestlers, especially Boogie Woogie Man. Some of them get on my nerves. I fuss with them,” said Barnes, as she works a word search puzzle waiting for the next match.

This night was the first for Nedra Moran of Lebanon. “I thought my 6-year-old son Ledarian would enjoy this, and it was local,” Moran said.

For the wrestlers who grapple here, the thrill is not unlike that for actors who perform live theater. Gary Valiant, 38, aka the Boogie Woogie Boy, has been wrestling since 1989, and even his wife Daphne has gotten into the act as Ms. Boogie. He wrestles full time, performing five to six nights a week in places like Nashville, Memphis, Horse Cave, Ky., and Booneville, Miss.

“I dance and try to kiss the kids and the women,” Valiant said. “The fans keep you going with their hollering and shouting. It’s just a rush, getting in front of a live crowd.”

Roxxanne Biggerstaff, 30, aka Rocksan, resides in Old Hickory and has been wrestling for 10 years. She also manages the career of her boyfriend Slacker J. With long black hair and shoulder tattoos, Rocksan tells of having an orbital bone in her face broken while wrestling on a Pay Per View match.

“We’ve got attitude and a reputation for hitting hard,” she said of the duo. “This is a rush, and it’s fun in small venues. There is a camaraderie you don’t get any place else.”

Manchester’s Paul Arp, 23, competes under the name of Petey St. Croix. He has been wrestling for seven years and has been the NWA Junior Heavyweight Champion. Laid off awhile back from his job of making conveyor belts, he wrestles two to three nights a week in such Middle Tennessee towns as Tullahoma and Columbia.

“My cousin, he wrestled. He brought me into it,” said Arp, handsome with the clean-cut look of a young farmer. He’s wearing tights, trunks, kneepads and black wrestling boots

“I do it for the feeling you get. You just feed off the crowd reaction as you entertain the fans,” he said. “I’m a good guy, a fan favorite with a lotta heart. You wrestle to be the champion and win the belt. That’s what it’s all about.”

But this night good-guy Arp loses his match to Echols and with it goes the colorful belt he had carried since July.

“One of my jobs is to make the people hate me,” said Larry Cartwright, aka Lawrence the Well Dressed Man, who has been wrestling out of Nashville for the past 20 years.

A bad guy, he does this for the sport and for “getting to work with such great guys.” His day job is performing apartment maintenance, and his love for the ring goes back to childhood.

“We lived downtown near the sports arena in Nashville. My dad took me every Saturday night,” Cartwright recalled. “Tojo Yamamoto (a famous Nashville wrestler of yesteryear) started training me. He told me, ‘I’ve taught you everything I can in the ring, Now I put you with somebody else.’ He sent me to Gypsy Joe. Tojo could teach me all the wrestling moves but he couldn’t teach me all the psychology. That’s where my psychology came in.”

Said the NWA Top Rope Cyberspace Heavyweight Champion, “I’ve been to a lot of wrestling shows, and this is one of the most family friendly wrestling shows that I been at. At a lot of smaller towns they cuss and do stuff. I can bring my son here and don’t have to worry about a lot of vulgarity.” Sure enough, Cartwright’s 12-year-son Austin sits in the crowd this night.

“If they work five nights a week, they can make $45,000 to $50, 000 a year,” Sircy said of the wrestlers he brings to Lebanon.

Most events feature a dozen to 16 wrestlers in one-on-one or tag team matches. As the announcer, Sircy is a part of the show as well as he controls a microphone and speaks to the crowd and to the wrestlers.

Sircy promotes and travels to wrestling events practically every day across Tennessee and Kentucky. He has held promotions in more than 100 towns, mostly in the Southeast. He has put on wrestling matches in 35 different cities this year as he travels about 35,000 miles annually.

“We’re very lucky to be part of National Wrestling Alliance. I can pull wrestlers from around the world,” Sircy said of the NWA, the oldest sanctioning body of professional wrestling in the world. Started in 1943, the NWA maintains its headquarters in Charlotte, N.C.

Lebanon native Sircy spent 20 years in the Air Force as a medical specialist and medical information systems specialist. He holds a degree in information technology that he earned at Almeda University in Atlanta. The father of two grown children, he works for the accounting firm of Deloitte and Touche as senior Web engineer over their international site and reports to their Swiss office.

When Sircy was 6-½, his wrestling-loving grandma died.

“I never got to go to wrestling matches again until it came to Lebanon when I was in the seventh grade. Nick Gulas (a famous Nashville wrestling promoter) brought wrestling to Southside Elementary in about 1971,” Sircy said.

Gulas promoted wrestling in Lebanon from 1971 until 1974. His son George Gulas held wrestling bouts here from 1978 to 1981, and Burt Prentice managed wrestling events from 1989 to 1995, according to Sircy’s best recollections.

Then Sircy revived it in 2003. He’s not quite a one-man show in putting together events, but he wears a variety of hats. Among other talents, he makes the championship belts that NWA wrestlers buckle about their waists.

The sport is his bread, meat and drink.

“I love professional wrestling. I live and breathe pro wrestling,” Sircy said. “I have wrestling videos back from the 1960s that I still enjoy watching to this day. People do not believe me, but wrestling is my form of relaxation.

“Once I go through those curtains in the back (after he introduces the wrestlers in the match), I can sit down and look out at the fans and I don’t have to look at the ring to tell if everything is going right or wrong,” said the Cedar City wrestling guru. “If the fans are on the edge of their seats, we’re doing it right.”

NWA Pro Wrestling and M1W presents "Friday Fight Night"

Credit: SoCalUncensored
Mach One Wrestling rolls into our third week of “Friday Fight Night” with the announcement of our October 30th Halloween Celebration card which takes place at the American Sports Center at 1500 S. Anaheim Blvd., Anaheim, CA 92805 and have a weekly bell time of 8:00PM. Tickets are $6 or $3 with a student ID and for children 12 and under.

Friday, October 30th, 2009 -- Card Announcement

-- M1W’s Halloween Celebration! All fans in attendance wearing Halloween costumes will receive a free gift bag of candy and be able to enter a costume contest in which the winner receives a free pass to the following “Friday Fight Night” show.

Main Event - Tag Team Grudge Match
“Pretty” Peter Avalon & “Magnum” Joey Ryan vs. Johnny Goodtime & M1W Champion “Red Tornado” James Morgan

-- The NWA Board of Directors along with the M1W brass have decided to reschedule the first “Friday Fight Night” main event as an act of faith to the loyal fans who came to see it when it was originally scheduled. The issues have not been settled between these four men and in fact, things may have even become more volatile with James Morgan getting a momentary bit of revenge on October 23rd after all the sneak attacks he has suffered at the hands of Joey Ryan. Add that to the unfinished business between Peter Avalon and Johnny Goodtime stemming from the Long Beach Comic Con and we are in for one explosive main event.

Return Match
Andrew Hellman vs. Shawn Rickers

-- After not being able to finish off Shawn Rickers on October 23rd, Andrew Hellman took a walk and left the match opting to be counted out rather than face the possibility of a pin fall loss due to a lack of preparedness. The NWA Board of Directors and the M1W brass were quick to sign the rematch between these two to hopefully get a decisive outcome. On October 30th, we will see if Rickers has Hellman’s number or if Hellman will make the most of his extra week to prepare.

Human Tornado vs. Ric Ellis

-- Ric Ellis had an impressive victory in his M1W debut. So impressive in fact that The NWA Board of Directors and the M1W brass want to test him already and have signed a match against fan favorite and world traveler Human Tornado! Ellis has seemingly been pushed into the deep end and it’s up to him to sink or swim.

Tag Team Match
The Ballard Brothers (Shannon & Shane) vs. David Flex & Gregory Sharpe

-- The events of last week were not kind to David Flex and Gregory Sharpe. They were matched up in a handicap match against Terex but that wasn’t the worst of their night. The worst came when Flex walked out on his partner leaving Sharpe to take the brunt of Terex’s assault. Apparently Flex & Sharpe worked out their differences as they requested to once again be given a shot at teaming up. However, their task this week doesn’t get any easier as they face off against long time SoCal veterans; The Ballard Brothers!

Todd Chandler vs. Tommy Wilson

-- Both men competed at the debut “Friday Fight Night” card. Tommy Wilson to a win and Todd Chandler to a loss. Both men have a lot to gain from this encounter. Wilson wants to prove he is a viable contender for M1W gold and Chandler doesn’t want to see his stock plummet down the ladder any further.

Kyle Webb vs. Johnny Yuma

-- Kyle Webb made his debut as the student of Joey Ryan but was soon abandoned by his teacher and left to feel the wrath of a scorned James Morgan. This week Webb looks to start his own path but must contend with Johnny Yuma who himself suffered a loss at the debut “Friday Fight Night” event and looks to add a W to his Win-Loss record.

NWA Michigan Presents: Fall Frenzy Oct. 31st

The Sheik claims another prize on the road to the NWA World Champion.

This weekend will go down as a bittersweet for the Sheik. Originally slated to challenge for the Worlds Heavyweight Championship on October 24th in Chicago Illinois, The Sheik was denied his chance when some changes were made in NWA Midwest Promoters. A last minute call kept the Sheik from canceling his transportation to Illinois. In fact, the Sheik was invited to fill in the vacancy of challenger to the NWA Midwest Heavyweight Championship bout on October 23rd, in Ashton, IL. for Rebellious Wrestling Federation. Silas Young, the two time champion won the championship by defeating the Roughneck Jay Ryan on August 15th, 2008. The one year plus, title reign came to an end on the 23rd. When The Sheik claimed another prize on his path to the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. Former NWA Midwest Champions include; Chris Candido, Danny Dominion, and Ken Anderson who was recently known as the WWE's Mr. Kennedy.

The NWA Sanctioned, Fussion Pro Wrestling Florida Heavyweight Champion and now NWA Midwest Champion as surely added to his resume, perhaps now would be the appropriate time to fax his business card to the NWA World Championship booking committee. Now that the original booker to the World Championship match between Demon Jr. and The Sheik, Danny Nieves has re-joined the NWA, perhaps a World Title Match between these two will happen much sooner than later.

The first Alliance-Wrestling Radio Episode featured the controversy involving the World Title match that didn't happen between Blue Demon Jr. and The Sheik, you can listen to it hear.

The NWA brings back Danny Nieves to promote NWA Lucha Americana in the Midwest.

Alliance-Wrestling.com first learned of Danny Nieves back on August 27th. At that time it was being announced that with the help of NWA Oklahoma, NWA Lucha Chicago bring the NWA name back to Chicago. And it would be a few weeks later on September 9th. that we would learn of the huge main event that would later create controversy for the seemingly quiet NWA. Danny Nieves promotion was going to use Fusion Pro Wrestling's Florida Heavyweight Champion, The Sheik and place him into a match up with the Worlds Heavyweight Champion Blue Demon Jr. Many remarked on the genius booking decision. The Sheik a 12 year veteran of Puerto Rican and Florida rings, who was known to travel all over the United States, the first Mexican Born wrestler to hold the title. A battle of to unlikely opponents, that many people were excited about.

And all of the momentum came to a screeching halt. Due to some disagreements between the NWA Office in the Midwest and the fledgling promotion, the party decided to split. The title match was off and many fans wondering why. All the hoopla of NWA Lucha Chicago was gone. All Danny Nieves could tell me is that he was heartbroken about the decision.

In a strange turn of events, Danny Nieves is back promoting the NWA name again, I received confirmation of this via email on Saturday. According to Eric Sax, " Danny Nieves is the promoter of NWA Lucha Americana Midwest. He is borrowing the name and trademark of NWA Lucha Americana in co-operation with Carmine DeSpirito of NWA SW/ LAI." Will this lead to the much talked about match between Blue Demon Jr. and The Sheik? Will this lead to a return to Chicago IL? Check out message board to discuss more.

Introducing Blake Roswell, Jay Popular, the return of "The Captain" Tyler Clemmons to the announce booth. Also featuring the Internet's favorite wrestler White Tiger in action.

The Classic Episodes are available here and you can even check out last season by clicking here If you are used to the higher production values of the NWA Showcase or NWA Unleashed, featuring the single camera taping. But it does have some values of entertainment. Two of the highlights of last season were White Tiger and the Trio of Project Prominence. I look for them to continue to be highlights this season.

NWA World Champion, Blue Demon Jr. in ESPN

Since I took on the continuation of the legacy my dad forged, I've known that a lot of people say wrestling isn't a sport, and I respect everyone's opinions -- those of the true expert and those of they who think they know.

It's obvious that the less knowledgeable always will say, when the wrestling is real and there is a maneuver and maneuver-breaker on the canvas, that that is not real wrestling. They want to see high-flying moves. They want to see blood. But that's not the essence of wrestling.

They think the sport is aerial. That's a joke. Well, I consider wrestling to be like a circus, stunts, theater and a sport.

It's a circus because it originates from the Roman circus. It's theater because it involves masked characters. The Greeks did it that way, and to this day, you still see a happy mask and a sad one. Even more, it represents the good and the bad, black and white, cold and hot. It represents the daily fight of the good versus the bad, and it's a sport in which you have to cultivate yourself physically and mentally in order to sustain the physical wear and tear in a match. It isn't just stepping into the ring and jumping around. You have to learn how to wrestle in different styles: freestyle, Greco-Roman, submission and professionally.

M1W Announcement of the "Friday Fight Night" Cards on... Beginning Friday, October 16th, live from the American Sports Center in Anaheim, CA, Mach One Wrestling brings you "Friday Fight Night," weekly professional wrestling showcasing the best M1W has to offer... which takes place at the American Sports Center at 1500 S. Anaheim Blvd., Anaheim, CA 92805 and have a weekly bell time of 8:00PM. Tickets are $6 or $3 with a student ID and for children 12 and under.

Main Event - Tag Team Grudge Match
“Pretty” Peter Avalon & “Magnum” Joey Ryan vs. Johnny Goodtime & M1W Champion “Red Tornado” James Morgan

-- This match is a direct result of the fallout seen at this past weekends “Wrath Of Con” event in Long Beach. Johnny Goodtime was able to best Peter Avalon in a singles match and Avalon has been griping to whomever will listen that he would like another shot at Goodtime. Meanwhile after Joey Ryan was able to sneak a win over Scotty 2 Hotty, he would spoil M1W Champion James Morgan’s victory celebration over Paul London by attacking Morgan post match claiming “the clock is ticking” on Morgan’s title reign. Ryan has been itching to get another shot at the championship after Morgan bested him in the tournament to crown the inaugural champion. The NWA Board of Directors have worked with the M1W brass to sign this Tag Team Grudge Match as the Main Event of the first “Friday Fight Night.”

NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Title to be defended in Chikara Pro Wrestling

Credit: Anthony Perillo & Wrestling.Insidepulse.com

This upcoming weekend, CHIKARA will present their third and fourth final shows of the season, “An Optimistic View of a Pessimistic World” and “Cibernetico Increible”. One more match is set to be announced for “Cibernetico Increible” in Philadelphia, but other than that, both shows’ cards have been pretty much finalized. As far as I am concerned, both events look like they are definitely going to be something special and will most likely be worthy of DVD purchases.

In a backstage promo on the "Hiding in Plain Sight” DVD, Sal Rinauro of all people made an appearance and laid out a challenge to “Lightning” Mike Quackenbush for his NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship. National Wrestling Alliance heard Rinauro’s words and have made the match official for “An Optimistic View of a Pessimistic View” in Easton. Quack has hung onto the NWA belt for nearly three years now, but has not made a title defense since December of 2008. Will Rinauro be able to take advantage of Quackenbush’s recent back injury and capture the prestigious NWA belt or will “LMQ” manage to rack up his tenth defense?

Truth be known, the NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Championship has gone pretty much unnoticed in the realm of the NWA. And as the writer mentions, Quackenbush hasn't defended his championship in nearly a year. Quackenbush has focused most of his attention to the Dragon Gate USA promotion, in addition to his Chikara promotion. And over coming his injured back, Quack will be facing Sal Rinauro. Rinauro who has been competing in NWA Anarchy, FIP, and even ROH. Its great to see the NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Championship to being defended again

The Legendary 10lbs. of Gold-- FOR AUCTION

If you ever wanted to old a true piece of professional wrestling history, you may be in luck as it looks like the true ultimate prize is going to be auctioned off to the highest bidder.

The National Wrestling Alliance
World championship belt, which had been in Ric Flair's possession since Jim Crockett Promotions introduced the "big gold belt" in the mid-1980s, will be auctioned off by Highspots via Ebay this Monday. This is the belt that was originally worn by Jack
Brisco, Dusty Rhodes and Harley Race, among others, which was chronicled in the excellent "Ten Pounds of Gold" book that was released this past summer.

The decision to auction off the belt is apparently the latest maneuver in an ongoing issue between Highspots and Flair over money owed going back many months. The word that has been making the rounds, as previously noted ont he site, is that Highspots loaned Flair a sum that has yet to be paid back. Sources indicate that Flair's side claimed the debt was paid off via appearances Flair made for Highspots.

Sources indicate another part of the ongoing issues may be over Highspots' decision to release DVDs featuring Flair from last August's NWA Legends convention (a Flair/Harley Race Q&A Session and the 2009 Hall of Heroes induction ceremony where Flair inducted Blackjack Mulligan) as Flair's side has apparently claimed
Highspots didn't have the rights to release the DVDs. Highspots previously worked with Flair on several shoot interview DVD releases and booked him for a number of appearances on independent events in the last year.

The auction for the belt (unless other forces intervene) will begin on Monday. For more information, email Highspots@aol.com.

The Legendary 10lbs of Gold that was worn around the waist of Ric Flair. This title holds a lot of history between its leather and gold. And the Dome Globe has travel to more places in the world than most of us ever will. The story of the championship was recently told by Dick Bourne and Dave Millican. Their book is available and you can get your copy here!

It should also be noted that if you do not have the $75,000 to bid on this piece of history, you can purchase and an adult replica belt. Check out the belt at NWA Midwest

Ryan Taylor became the 4th man to win the Inland Title Series Battle Royal, earning the #1 Contendership to the EWF Heavyweight Championship and an immediate title shot at the next Covina show, where he will face the champion, Brandon Gatson! Taylor came back from imminent defeat when SoCal Crazy threw him over the top rope. Taylor's feet dangled just inches above the floor but managed to return to the ring and eliminate SoCal Crazy for the win!

Ryan Taylor defeated "Electrifying" Kiel Steria earlier in the evening. Taylor parlayed his victory into the Inland Titles Series Battle Royal. Taylor is hoping to cash in against Brandon Gatson.

NWA Explosive Pro Wrestling Gives Back

The world of professional wrestling is considered a cut-throat business filled with sleaze. When wrestling does get publicity, it is typically for all the wrong reasons. All to often we hear of drug overdoes, criminal activities, and death. The NWA is known for its charitable contributions. ECCW helped out with the 24 Hour Wrestling show to fill the empty food banks. NWA Mid-Atlantic has been giving back to the families of Fire Fighters and Police men and women.

Explosive Pro Wrestling was able to give $2348.35 to Telethon. Telethon is a registered childrens charitable trust dedicated to raising funds to improve the lives of children and young people throughout Western Australia. They improve lives by investing in medical treatment and research for children who are sick.

The Results from Charity are:

Jay Taylor and Davis Storm defeated Team Allstar

Tyler Jacobs defeated Alex Kingston

Garry Schmidt defeated Gavin McGavin

Jimmy Payne defeated AZ Vegara and Jamie Jurah

Mikey Nicholls defeated Devlin Reeves

Chase Griffin and Dan Moore defeated Chris Vice and Jonny Wimbledon

Bobby Marshall defeated Sebastian Sander

Mikey Nicholls won the 2009 EPW Charity Rumble

Kudos to all the Wrestlers and Explosive Pro Wrestling for this great cause.

NWA Main Event Internet Show going on hiatus?

Credit Larry Goodman and Georgia Wrestling History:
In light of the departure Jason James, NWA Main Event's weekly internet wrestling program will be on hiatus for several weeks, while promoter Mike Porter retools his TV production and booking. The last episode produced was the September 19 edition.

In a city that not long ago had the unique distinction of having three locally produced independent wrestling television shows, Nashville is down to one, Showtime All-Star Wrestling, at least for the time being.

Until recently, USWO/ATL had been running weekly television tapings at the Stadium Inn, but conflicts between Television Producer Timmy Thompson and ATL's Bill DeShields brought that project to a halt after only six episodes.

Porter said he hopes to have the NWA Main Event internet back up and running by no later October 24. Television tapings will proceed as scheduled at 413 Veritas Street on October 1 and October 10.

Mike Porter, via the Mid-South Wrestling Message Board noted that "The show will be back on. In fact the taping on the 15 will be live to tape and will be so every Thursday. This way less editing time will be involved in producing the show. [I] have already interviewed two editors." For those who are unaware, Jason James was instrumental in producing the weekly television show for NWA Main Event as well as the play by play for the show. Jason James has taken a position with Total Non-Stop Action.

The NWA on PPV?

Brian Webster, part of the NWA On Fire broadcasting team and the author of Webster's Weekly recently informed fans of NWA On Fire that a deal has been put into place with In-Demand Pay Per View. Details haven't been released yet, but the shows are set to start in 2010.

I speculate that the show will continue to feature the stars of NWA On Fire, like NWA North American Champion: "El Gran" Apolo, NWA On Fire Champion: Billy Robinson, The Giant Pharaoh, The Logan Brothers, the NWA On Fire Tag Team Champions: Latin Hit Squad and more.

More when it becomes available.

The Sheik has choice words for the NWA World Champion

(Media-Newswire.com) - ( Chicago, IL ) – Affected most is The Sheik, the pro wrestler from Iran who’s been waiting 12 years for his title shot. He was to go up against current champion Blue Demon Jr. of Mexico on October 24 at Cicero Stadium in Chicago.

But the match was inexplicably canceled with nary an explanation, which hasn’t set well with The Sheik, who was eager to battle for the National Wrestling Alliance ( NWA ) championship—an opportunity he’s waited a long time for.

“The NWA didn’t back out of this match. The Sheik certainly didn’t back out of this match. The Mexican promoters backed out of this match!,” an angry Sheik told reporters recently.

“The Mexican people pride themselves on having one of their countrymen holding the NWA World Heavyweight Title,” The Sheik continued. “And they parade him around as if he’s an Aztec warrior. But what kind of warrior partakes in the glory without the risks?”

Further irking The Sheik is the public image Blue Demon Jr. is propagating for himself.

“I’ve seen him in photos with American stars like The Jonas Brothers. I’ve seen him on television programs rubbing elbows with the rich and famous, while I train in a dungeon,” The Sheik added. “Blue Demon Jr. is a paper champion, and a coward.”

Robert K. Trobich, Executive Director of the NWA, wasn’t available for comment. But the annual NWA meeting will be held soon, and it’s hoped that from that will be gleaned an explanation for the sudden cancellation of the title bout.

The Sheik says he will continue to train and stay ready, should the match be rescheduled as quickly as it was canceled.

The NWA championship dates back to 1905, when George Hackenschmidt was the title holder. This makes the NWA title the longest-running and therefore one of the most prestigious in pro wrestling history.

For interview opportunities directly with The Sheik, contact Shannon Rose at ( 813 ) 960-8412, ( 813 ) 389-0801, or info@mediaproductions.tv.
